What is your favorite film / developer combination?
My favorite film is interestingly closely related to the film I first learnt black and white photography with. This confirms the importance of sticking to one film until you can predict it or get a feel for it.
When I first started photography it was Ilford FP4 in D-76, when I did all of my film testing at art school it was Ilford FP4 in D-76.
Now after exploring and playing around with many films I have returned to Ilford though to HP5 plus in D-76 and occasionally in X-Tol.
Other films that I have had brief affairs with are Fuji Acros when I use it in ready loads and Kodak T400CN (which I love but doesn’t come in 4×5 anymore).
For colour work I love Fuji Velvia 100.
